I am excited to introduce a new section in the blog called “Quarterly Round-Up“.This is about all things I have been gushing about for each quarter of the year. I choose a quarterly post rather than a monthly post about my favorites because of two reasons:
- It is overwhelming to whack my brain out every month to publish a favorite’s post, and
- I think one quarter is a long enough period of time to pick and decide from the list of great shows and movies I watch, music I listen to, channels I am into, places I visit and will visit, and other miscellaneous things that are worth sharing and gushing over.
In each post, there will be sub-sections:
- Movies and TV Series
And for our very first “Quarterly Round-Up” post, I present to you my favorites for the months of April to June.
If you have been following me on social media, you will know that ever since I’ve watched the film Annihilation, I was on the hunt for the book. So like any responsible human being who is curious about movie adaptations that came from novels, I went ahead and look for a copy. Unfortunately, I was not lucky in my first few trials of searching for the physical copy, but thanks to a friend, I got an electronic one. And boy did I read the hell out of that book. And now I am on the next book in the “Southern Reach Trilogy”. 🙂
One day, I decided to visit my SoundCloud account and browsed through my old favorites, and this song “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” was in my recommendations. I think someone I’ve been following in SoundCloud liked the audio file. I gave it a listen, and I was hooked ever since.
I always loved Honne’s type of music, perfect for late night commute, road trips, and even while studying. They have released a few singles these past few months and my favorite is “Day 1“.
I am a person who listens to all types of music, whatever genre it is, if it floats my boat, it floats my boat. SHINee released this June, three EPs for their 10th Anniversary Come Back. These wonderful boys have a special place in my heart, not only were they one of the first KPop groups that I really admired, I like how their style of music evolved as they aged. Plus all their tributes to Jonghyun really touched my heart. Here are some of my favorite tracks from all the three EPs:
Movies & TV Series
Blame Netflix for this category, I’ve been binge-watching the following series since April. And thanks to some of these, I have discovered a great book in return. 🙂
Crime series: check, serial killer: check, set in the 19th century New York: check! Ding ding! We have a winner. Just do me a favor, do not watch this if you are eating your breakfast/lunch/dinner.
JAKE PERALTA!!! Need I say more?
I am living for Jonathan and Tan! Yaaasss Queens! 🙂
- National Museum of Natural History (Rizal Park, Manila, Philippines)
Ever since its opening last May 18, I’ve been coercing (hehe not really) my friends, my sister, and my cousin to come and visit the place with me. And after several changes in our schedules (because life and work haha) finally, we already decided on a date. Be on the lookout, because there is a great chance that this city trip will be recorded into a vlog. 🙂
And this is for the other things and human beings that did not fit in any of the first four categories. Our misc for this post is made up of one podcast and a whole lot of youtube channels. 🙂
If you are like me and sometimes your monthly music playlist just does not seem to cut it out for your daily commute, try listening to podcasts. Lore is about the darker side of things, mysteries that remained mysteries. If you have a premium subscription to Spotify or you have access to iTunes, then download an episode or two at home, to save cellular data, and to save yourself from the “crazy” of the commute.
- Youtube Channels
This list is made up of wonderful people I’ve discovered on youtube and people who inspire me to keep on creating meaningful content.
And that’s it for this quarterly round-up. I hope you enjoyed it!
